Elated at the High Court judgement giving ACB authority to prosecute Delhi Police personnel, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said the verdict was a “huge embarrassment” for the BJP-led Government at the Centre and a decisive victory for the people of the national Capital. Addressing an open Cabinet with his Council of Ministers at Central Park in Connaught Place, Kejriwal tried to touch a chord with Delhi bureaucrats and acting Chief Secretary Shakuntala Gamlin saying that the Government is nothing without the coordination of the bureaucrats.
lauding the Delhi High Court verdict restoring powers of Anti-Corruption Branch, Kejriwal said, “It is a decisive victory for the people of the national Capital. The Anti-Corruption Branch was constituted 40 years ago. Previously, the branch had the rights of prosecution, but the Union Government put an end to it. The Centre issued a notification and kept the officials of Delhi Police and Central Government out of the purview of the ACB. Today, the High Court scrapped the Centre’s notice. It vindicates our stand.”
Kejriwal said that if the Centre and the State work hand in hand, Delhi can achieve desired success in 100 days. Counting on his accomplishments within 100 days of governance, the CM pointed out that the power bills have gone down. “We are sincerely working on water, education, price rise, women security and eradicating pollution from Delhi,” he added.
Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said the contractual teachers will be made permanent by next year. “There is a lack of teachers in Government schools. For this, we will hire new teachers and also make guest teachers permanent after conducting due tests of all teachers,” he said, announcing that 45 new schools are under construction. When a question related to women safety was asked, the CM said that all dark spots are being identified and these will have streetlights and vulnerable spots will have CCTV cameras.
Announcing a slew of new hospitals in Delhi, Health Minister Satyendra Jain said, “The hospital project in Ambedkar Nagar having 250 beds have been increased to 500. 700-bedded hospital in Dwarka will have 1,500 beds, and Burari will have 800 beds instead of 250 beds.” Jain also highlighted that PWD has filled up all potholes across the capital, while they would use mechanical cleaning to get rid of pollution and dust in the capital.
