The official websites of some premier educational institutions, including IIT Delhi, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) and Delhi University (DU), were hacked on
Tuesday and defaced with pro-Pakistani slogans.
All the three websites flashed the same message and appear to have been hacked by the same person or a group allegedly based in Pakistan.
The hackers smeared the websites in black with posters of the alleged “brutalities” by the ‘Indian forces’ in Kashmir.
‘Pakistan Haxors CREW - PHC’, the group which claimed responsibility for hacking into the two websites, posted a screenshot on their Facebook page, claiming they had hacked several websites, including those of AMU and IIT.
Though the Delhi Police and officials of the two institutions said they were unaware of the websites being hacked, many users said they came across “Pakistani propaganda” material when they tried accessing the websites.
Those using Android phones continued experiencing a hacked IIT-Delhi website till late evening while AMU website was hacked across platforms. The Delhi University website, however, returned to normal within a matter of minutes.
The poster by hackers’ group posted on top of the IIT Delhi website’s main page read: “Greetings Government of India and the people of India.” It talked about alleged “killing and rape of Kashmiri people by the Indian soldiers”.
“Take your murderers and rapists back home,” the post said. The hackers also shared two videos of alleged police brutality in Kashmir. “Just here to deliver my message to the Government and the people of India...Security Is Just An Illusion. Pakistan Zindabad,” the post read.
