Mocking his rivals for attributing his “success” to his “good fortune”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “If his luck is benefiting the people, then people should vote for the BJP and not those who are unlucky.” Addressing a jam-packed rally in politically charged Dwarka constituency, he targeted AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and asked people whether they want development or “dharnas”.
Modi scoffed at the AAP and the Congress for spreading canards that “prices have come down just because he (Modi) is lucky.” He taunted, “Do you want a lucky person or someone who is less luckyIJ”
The Prime Minister said, “Ok, let’s accept that I am lucky. But it has helped you save money. If Modi’s luck is benefiting the people, what can be more fortunateIJ If because of my good luck, prices of petrol and diesel get reduced and the common man saves more, then what is need for bringing someone who is unluckyIJ”
Taking on the Congress and the AAP for “lamenting that Modi is lucky”, he said, “It is not Modi’s luck, but if somebody has the blessings of 125 crore people, there cannot be any better luck.” He went on to add, “for every success (of the Government), canards are being spread in an attempt to mislead the people”.
lambasting the AAP and the Congress, Modi said that there are two political groups who have tacit understanding to spread lies. “A competition of making false promises and telling lies is going on. Every morning they wake up and mull what lie to spread today,” he said.
Modi emphasised that Delhi needs a Government which is “sensible” to the problems of its residents. As the crowded chanted “Modi-Modi”, he said, “I owe the people of my country and I will give it back with progress and development. Give me an opportunity to work for you. Those who believe in protests can never be interested in dialogue.”
He said, “We all know about the major traffic congestion in this city. And for that we have Kiran Bedi, who is an expert in solving this problem.” Referring to his ambitious housing target, Modi said, “Every Indian family will have a house of their own by year 2022 when India will celebrate 75 years of Independence. We will transform jhuggis into pakka houses and ensure that even the poor get a house of its own in Delhi.”
