A day after Jama Masjid Shahi Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari announced his formal support to the Congress in the lok Sabha elections, his younger brother and president of Jama Majid United Forum (JMUF) Yahya Bukhari on Saturday condemned elder Bukhari’s move, and assured to expose the communal deal.
He has claimed that Shahi Imam’s appeal to Muslims to vote for the Congress “to strengthen secular forces” is a farce and part of a big political conspiracy being hatched by the Congress party.
Criticising the secret deal between the Congress and the Shahi Imam at the cost of his community members’ interests, Yahya claimed that the Congress was planning to create unrest in non-Congress-ruled States.
“The Congress cannot be trusted. It is a communal party. This party is solely responsible for the killing of thousands of Muslims during communal riots. I am in the process of collecting evidences to substantiate my claims to expose the Congress. I will take a week to make public all those evidences. I am also in talk with mediators who facilitated the deal,” he said.
“Whatever happened under the Narendra Modi regime in Gujarat 10-12 years ago is known to one and all. But the Congress is 10 times ahead of Modi. The number of Muslims killed by the Congress is more than that done by any other party,” he said in a press conference on Saturday and claimed that the Congress had lost trust of Muslims across the country.
“I would like to reiterate that the BJP has always attacked Muslims from the front, but the Congress has always backstabbed them. My father also used to say the same thing. The Congress is habitual deceiver,” said Yahya.
While objecting to the clandestine meeting between his elder brother and Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday, he questioned: “Why did Shahi Imam address the press conference alone and not with Sonia Gandhi.”
