Asserting that his stand against corruption and black money was “uncompromising”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said “battle against it is uncompromising. No one will be spared. I have no relatives”.

Exhorting over 2,000 delegates in the “extended” BJP National Executive to take the party’s politics “beyond elections” for public service, Modi asked them to actively involve masses in the public welfare schemes to ensure their successful implementation.

Hitting out at the Opposition, he said when in power they made use of power for “enjoyment” and that is why they are now finding it difficult to adapt to their current role. The Opposition has been attacking the Modi-Government over implementation of Goods and Services Tax, demonetisation and the recent rise in petrol, diesel and lPG prices.

Saying that harsh words and accusations from the Opposition cannot be a substitute for any substantial charges, Modi announced that his battle against corruption was “uncompromising” and therefore whoever gets caught will not be spared. And in this respect, he was quick to add that “I have no relatives.”

Senior BJP leader and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, who briefed the Press on the Prime Minister’s concluding address, said 13 Chief Ministers, six Deputy CMs 60 Central Ministers, 232 State Ministers, 1,515 Members of legislative Assemblies and legislative Councils and 334 MPs attended the meeting.

Jaitley said BJP president Amit Shah announced that a ‘Run for the country’ would be organized on October 31, on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Modi said, as the BJP was the focus of hope and expectations of the people, it should move beyond conventional politics of elections and victories and turn itself into an instrument of change in public life. No other political party in the country is as active as the BJP, he said.  Modi, however, cautioned party leaders and lawmakers that no scheme would succeed without the involvement of the masses. In this regard , Modi cited “the success” of Swachchh  Bharat Abhiyan.
