The controversy over the mysterious stay of an imposter IAS probationer, Ruby Choudhury, at Mussoorie’s prestigious lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (lBSNAA) took a new turn on Thursday as the woman appeared before the media and claimed that she had bribed academy’s Deputy Director Saurabh Jain for the job of a librarian in the academy. Ruby also claimed that she has been offered a “hefty” sum of money to keep her mouth shut. Saurabh Jain facilitated her stay at the academy’s guesthouse, she added.
Ruby told the media, “I had committed a mistake by giving Rs5 lakh to academy’s Deputy Director Saurabh Jain to get me the job of a librarian in the institute. I am ready to face consequences, but a case should be lodged also against the academy officer who provided me with a fake ID card of SDM.”
Ruby, who belongs to Muzaffarnagar, said she has been in touch with the local police for the past two days. “It is, thus, wrong to say that I am absconding,” she added. She had attended President Pranab Mukherjee’s speech in the academy. She alleged that Jain had asked her to reach the venue in uniform. She also attended several VVIP’s programmes held in the academy.
Ruby said she used to visit the academy, using the fake identity card. Ruby alleged that Jain had told her that he had talked to the academy director to give her the job of a librarian. She was surprised when ITBP personnel took control of the quarters she was staying in and asked her to vacate it and leave the academy premises on March 27. “I wonder why the academy officials who were aware of my stay there handed me over to the police,” she said.
Ruby has been booked under various sections of the IPC. Uttarakhand DGP BS Sidhu said an SIT headed by woman SP-CID S Ansari has been constituted to look into the case. “The charges levelled by the woman are serious and they will have to be investigated... It will not be proper for me to comment on the allegations made by her,” said the DGP.
The high-security academy, on the radar of terror outfits, grabbed headlines on Wednesday when the news spread about the illegal stay of a woman there on the basis of a fake ID card.
