Two days after arresting 40-year-old Monika Chaudhary, alias Rathi, accused of honey-trapping BJP Member of Parliament KC Patel, the Delhi Police has stumbled on some new facts that she had lodged a case of rape against another politician in Deoband of Muzaffarnagar district, even as she claimed to have frequented North Block in hunt of her targets.
Moreover, during its raid on her house in Indirapuram in Uttar Pradesh, police have recovered large quantity of Viagra pills, condoms and various lubricants. In the three-hour raid, police also recovered 500 GB Digital Video Recorder (DVR) and spy cameras fitted in all rooms of her flat.
Besides, police have seized two SUV cars that belong to the woman.
A team of the Delhi Police, along with the woman, reached her Muzaffarnagar house on Thursday evening for further investigation. A criminal of Muzaffarnagar, who has been identified, had allegedly provided muscle power to the gang that targeted politicians and bureaucrats, sources said. Police also claimed to have information that she extorted money from prominent people and politicians. “We wouldn’t be able to reveal their names till we find substantial proof,” the official said.
“We have also contacted the UP police to provide further details regarding other cases filed by the accused women in UP. We have also asked all police stations in Delhi to give details of all rape cases filed by the woman. We have also got details of five bank accountants that were operated by her,” said Mukesh Meena, Special Commissioner of Police, (New Delhi range).
“During questioning, the woman claimed that she used to make frequent visits to North Block, something that needs to be verified. We have also recovered visiting cards of several politicians and industrialists from the flat,” said the senior police official.
“We have sent the DVR player of CCTV for forensic examination. The seized DVR had a memory of 500 GB and we suspect that the hard drive contains sting operation feed on many politicians,” said the official.
According to Meena, at least three politicians felt prey to the gang’s honey trap. Besides Gujarat parliamentarian Patel, Uttarakhand Minister Haraksinh Rawat and Congress Rajya Sabha MP Shadilal Batra were honey trapped.
The woman, arrested on Tuesday, had filed a case of molestation against the Uttarakhand MP in south Delhi in 2014, police said.
However, she withdrew her complaint allegedly after receiving money, a senior officer said. She blackmailed the Haryana MP in the same manner. Both have been contacted to record their statements. Police are also verifying another case from Rajouri Garden.
The woman told police that she had completed bachelor and Master’s in Arts and also pursued llB and llM. Sources said when police asked her to write in English, she was unable to do so. Her lack of knowledge has raised several questions about her academic background, said sources.
