Worshippers of Bacchus in the national Capital have a reason to cheer up as bio-liquor, which is “not so harmful” and “hangover-free”, may be available from the next fiscal year if the Delhi Government accepts a proposal of Bio Tech Spirits. The company is lobbying for permission to launch their products in Delhi. However, they have to wait till the end of this fiscal year to get the clearance as the Arvind Kejriwal Government has decided not to approve new brands in the current fiscal.
Those behind this unique brand of liquor claim that tipplers would not get hangovers if they consume the bio-liquor. The bio-versions of beer, whiskey and brandy are prepared from natural alkaloids extracted from herbs like aloe-vera, tulsi, sarpagandha, arjuna, honey and mint leaves, instead of molasses, they said. Bio-liquors do not contain any synthetic flavours, chemicals, sugar or extra nitric alcohol, they claimed.
“We want to introduce bio-liquor in Delhi but we will have to wait for the next fiscal year as the AAP Government has already decided not to endorse new products of liquor in the remaining fiscal,” said Satish Bhalla, who is associated with bio-liquor products, the brainchild of Dr B Srinivasa Amarnath, an ayurvedic practitioner.
He claimed that bio-liquor has been invented after 10 years of extensive research and development using famous Indian grain spirits, select malt spirit and grape spirit, enriched with natural alkaloids, unlike the regular products that come with glycerine and sugars.
Bio whisky is blended with grain spirits, imported age old malt spirits, naturally-available alkaloids and specially prepared bio concentrations re infused to minimise alcohol side effect, they said. Bio brandy contains natural aromas and natural alkaloids, they said.
Reacting on the news, a tippler said that if it gives him the similar high, then he will go for it. “I will be the happiest person to say sayonara to my existing drinks. Health is wealth,” he said.
Another guzzler said that he has heard ‘sura or herbal sura’ and it is also mentioned in old literature but bio liquor is something unheard-of. “I have never heard bio-liquor or bio-vodka. let’s taste it. If it is good, then I will drink it regularly,” he said.
The bio liquor contains of 16 natural herbs that include Bela (Sida Cordifolia), Asvagandha (Withnia Somnifera), Kumarairasasambhava (Aloe Barbadensis), Atmagupta (Mucuna Pruritan Hook), Tulsi (Ocimum Sanctum), Rasna (Pluchea lanceolata), Bhumi Amlaki (Pyllanthus Niruri), Arjuna (Terminalia Arjuna), Honey, Puskara Mula (Inula Racemosa), Sarpagandha (Rauwalfia Serpentia Benth), Katuka (Picrorhiza Kurroa), Vrksamla (Garcinia Indica), Brahmi (Hydrocotyle Asiatica), Haridra (Curcuma longa) and Akarakarabha (Anacyclus Pyrethrum Redise).
According to excise officials, the Government has a parameter to accord approval to specific brands of liquor and the laboratory for testing ‘liquor’ is very modern and well-equipped.
