In a sensational crime, an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of the Delhi Police and his female escort were found murdered in a realtor’s office in Deep Vihar area of Rohini Sector 24 in the national Capital on Sunday. The incident came to light on Sunday morning after a tea seller noticed that the doors of property dealer’s office were ajar. A sanitation worker employed at the office then called up the police control room. The police team reached the spot and found half-naked bodies of the duo.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the ASI, Joginder lakra, posted with First Battalion of the Delhi Armed Police, was running a Satta racket with his friends Jeet and Sandeep. Jeet had serious financial disputes with lakra and murdered him on Saturday night. Jeet and Sandeep have been arrested.
“ASI Joginder lakra and a woman in her mid thirties were found lying in a pool of blood in a semi-naked condition. While the woman was found on the bed, lakra was found lying in the office,” a tea-vendor, an eyewitness, told The Pioneer.
“During sustained interrogation, the accused revealed they fired at the woman because she was a witness to Joginder’s murder,” said Rohini Deputy Commissioner of Police MN Tiwari.
Police have registered a case under Section 302 at the Shahbad Dairy police station. A police official, privy to the investigation, said while five bullets pierced lakra, three hit the woman.
Recounting the last time he saw lakra alive, local tea vendor Jitendra told The Pioneer, “On Saturday evening, around 6.30pm, I saw a group of six men visit the realtor’s office. lakra had rented his plot to one Singh. However, he used to visit the office regularly. On Saturday too, he called me up asking for tea. I brought the kettle and left it there. Within a few minutes, the group left and I sent my younger son to collect the tea kettle. That was the last time I saw lakra alive.”
On being asked if he heard gun-shots, Jitendra said, “Since a lot of weddings are taking place nearby, we all must have misinterpreted the indiscriminate firing as that of bursting of firecrackers.”
Based on the account of the local property dealers in Deep Vihar and the tea-vendor, police scanned the call detail records of lakra and found that he was in touch with the two arrested persons. Then police arrested the two.
During interrogation, Jeet reportedly disclosed that he was in partnership with Jitender, where, they ran “Dance and Satta” activities. lakra had some monetary dispute with Jeet over mismanagement by lakra’s relative, who was also part of the Satta gang, police said.
