A mugger was lynched to death and his accomplice severely injured when their plan to break into a house backfired. A gang of robbers barged into the residence of Haji Iqbal, a trader in Ghaziabad’s Muradnagar, and held him and his wife hostage at gun point. The couple’s two children raised an alarm and alerted the locals.
The area’s elders wanted to hand the thugs over to the police but mob justice prevailed. One robber was lynched by locals, the other severely injured and carted to Meerut Medical College. The rest of the gang made a quick getaway.
“Police patrolling has been intensified in the area. A case has been registered and an attempt to nab the other robbers is underway,” said Superintendent of Police Rural Jagdish Sharma.
