Against the backdrop of the attack on Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh in a lahore jail, the Chinese incursion in ladakh, Italian marines’ issue and beheading of Indian soldiers by their Pakistani counterparts, the BJP on Saturday said the Government has suffered a “total blackout” in its foreign policy, which it termed as “weak and meek”.
leading the charge, Gujarat CM Narendra Modi said such incidents, happening one by one, are proof that the Government in Delhi is occupied in saving itself and has no time to save the country and its people.
“It shows that today the Indian Government is not able to propagate our truth effectively. There seems a total blackout in putting our stand forward with firmness or showing our power to our neighbours or prove our diplomatic capabilities,” he told reporters on the sidelines of a function in Gandhinagar.
In Bangalore, M Venkaiah Naidu described Sarabjit’s attack as the “most unfortunate episode” and slammed the alleged “weak and meek” response of the Government on all such issues. “It’s a spineless Government. Not just this episode, even when two Indian soldiers were beheaded (by Pakistan), the Government did not utter a single word,” he said.
On the Chinese incursion, he said the Government was fighting shy "even to take the name of China" and to take a strong stand against it. spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said what is more painful is that Sarabjit's family members had expressed their apprehensions to the Home and External Affairs Ministers in this regard, but the government did not take any concrete steps to prevent such attack on the Indian prisoner.
"Sarabjit's condition of a coma indicates to the 'coma-like' condition of India's foreign policy. The foreign policy of India is slowly slipping into a coma," he said in Delhi.
