Close on the heels of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh appealing to the Gorkha Yuva Morcha, student wing of GJM, to withdraw the ongoing hunger strike for a separate Gorkhaland State, the strikers on Monday withdrew the indefinite fast. Experts see it as the beginning of melting of ice in trouble-torn Darjeeling hills. Singh also asked the Mamata Banerjee Government to defuse the crisis by opening dialogue with all stakeholders.
