A 20-year-old girl — allegedly thrown off from the 4th floor of an under construction building for resisting a rape bid by a youth in Outer Delhi’s Begumpur area — is in coma at the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar hospital, said police on Sunday.

The girl’s father — a resident of Kirti Nagar — said he suspects that it was not just 22-year-old Deepak, who tried to sexually assault her daughter, but there were more people.

Rishi Pal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini), said Deepak, a resident of Rama Vihar, has been arrested for the alleged crime taking place on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday when the victim, who works at a five star hotel with the accused, was heading home in an auto with her two other friends. They and their two friends met at a five star hotel in Rohini from where they planned to go to Connaught Place, said police.

During interrogation, the accused confessed that he came on his bike and around 12 am asked two of the victim’s friends to board an auto and reach CP, letting the victim to be with him.

“Deepak took the girl on his bike and told her that after getting his car from his house he would drop her at her house. Since the hotel and Deepak’s house are in the same area, the accused, who was drunk, took the girl to an under construction building where he attempted to rape her. As she resisted, the accused tossed her from the 4th floor of the building,” said a senior police officer, privy to the investigation.

Hearing the hue and cry of the locals, the victim’s two friends de-boarded the auto and rushed to the spot where they found the girl bleeding profusely.

Police said they received information from the hospital around 2 am. Police said they found slippers and clothes of the victim lying on the stairs of the building.
