In an incident which shows Delhi is still unsafe for women, two youths allegedly abducted a 24-year-old girl in their car and tried to sexually assault her in Aman Vihar area of outer district around 10.30 pm on Thursday. However, the brave girl foiled the rape attempt by jumping out of the moving car. But in the process, her leg got crushed under the rear wheel of the vehicle. The two accused have been arrested.
The victim was admitted to a hospital. She is stated to be out of danger. The girl, who works as an accountant with a firm in Karol Bagh, was on her way back home. She was traveling in a shared auto (Gramin Seva) when two persons, Kuldeep (24) and Deepak (19), who were known to the victim, intercepted the auto and dragged her into their Alto car.
Deepak was driving the car, while Kuldeep was on the rear seat. He tried to rape the girl, who somehow foiled his move and managed to open the gate of the car. The brave girl then jumped off the car only to be crushed under the rear wheel of the vehicle, thus fracturing her leg.
Sadly, though people gathered at the crime spot but did not come forward to help her, until a passerby, Ravinder Bhati, informed the police and her family. He took the victim to hospital, before the police reached the spot.
"After finishing her work, she
boarded a Metro and got down at Nangloi. There she took a Gramin Sewa auto (rural transport vehicle) to reach home in Prem Nagar," a senior police officer said.
The Gramin Sewa had two more passengers inside. As it crossed the Railway crossing in Prem Nagar area, "Suddenly an Alto car intercepted it and two men, identified as Kuldeep Gujjar (24) and Deepak Yadav (21), dragged her out of the Gramin Sewa and pushed her in their car," the officer added. "A PCR call was made at 10.30 pm. It was informed that a girl was lying in pool of blood near Baldev Public School in Aman Vihar. After receiving the PCR call, two PCR vans rushed to the spot. But by then, the victim was taken to Sanjay Gandhi hospital by Ravinder,” the officer added.
Police recorded the statement of the victim in the hospital. The victim told the police that she was kidnapped by two persons, identified as Kuldeep and Deepak who tried to rape her but she managed to escape. "Several teams were formed under the supervision of ACP (Sultanpuri) KS Meena and they questioned around 100 Gramin Sewa owners and drivers. After around 11 pm, they finally apprehended Deepak and later on his instance, Kuldeep was arrested," said BS Jaiswal, DCP (Outer). Kuldeep has a fleet of Gramin Sewa and also runs a finance office. Deepak was earlier working as Kuldeep's driver.
