Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying his Government’s schemes for free education, healthcare and electricity were not “freebies” but efforts to lay the foundation for making India the number one country in the world.
“I have been accused of distributing rewris (sweets), freebies. I am being abused. I want to ask the people of India, where am I wrong,” Kejriwal asked at a press conference.
The PM did not take any names, though. Kejriwal said, “I am providing free quality education to the poor children of Delhi. Am I distributing rewris? Before we came to power, the plight of Delhi Government schools was miserable. The future of 18 lakh children was in the dark due to poor infrastructure.
