A fresh encounter broke out between terrorists and security forces in the Akhal forest area of Devsar in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Friday, police said.
According to ground reports, a joint team of police, Army and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in the area following specific inputs about the presence of terrorists.
Confirming the same, Kashmir Zone Police in a post on X said, “Encounter has started at Akhal area of district Kulgam. SOG, J and K Police, Army and CRPF on the job. Further details shall follow.”
This is the third encounter in recent days. Three Pakistani terrorists were gunned down during Operation Mahadev on the outskirts of Srinagar on July 28. Two days later, two heavily armed infiltrators were neutralised along the LoC in the frontier district of Poonch.
