Egged on by ISI, Jaish attacked India during my Govt, admits Musharraf

Pakistan’s former President Pervez Musharraf has admitted Masood Azhar-led Jaish-e-Mohammed carried out attacks in India during his tenure on the instructions of the intelligence agencies, including Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

“This is a good move. I have always said the JeM is a terrorist organisation. Action should be taken against them. I am happy,” said Musharraf, who ruled Pakistan from 1999 to 2008.

When asked why he had not taken action against Jaish when he was in power, Musharraf said, “Those were different times. Our intelligence men were involved in a tit-for-tat with India...This was continuing at that time and amid all of this, no major action was taken against the Jaish. And I also did not insist.”

Musharraf has been living in Dubai since March 2016. He is facing the treason case for suspending the Constitution in 2007, for which he was indicted in 2014.
