Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav attacked the Election Commission and challenged it to ban him for speaking in favour of Muslims.

“EC is biased against the Samajwadi Party. When Azam Khan and Amit Shah were banned together by EC then why they removed the ban only from Shah and not from Azam,” he asked. The SP supremo said Azam Khan only spoke in favour of Muslims and the Commission banned him. “I am speaking in favour of Muslims every day and I dare the EC to ban me,” he said.

Addressing an election meeting in favour of party candidate Neeraj Shekhar, son of former Prime Minister Chandrasekhar, in Balia and later also in Mau district, on Thursday afternoon, Mulayam said, “Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians are honoured citizens of this country and they have equal rights but why the Government and others treat Muslims as second-class citizensIJ” He said the Sachar Commission report, also disclosed the pitiable condition of Muslims in the country and they had claimed that Muslims are worse than Dalits.

“Third Front Government at the Centre led by the SP will be formed after the elections and they will implement the Sachar Commission recommendations. Muslims will be given reservation in Government jobs in proportion to their population,” he announced. The SP leader said the Congress and the BJP are the “enemies” of the Muslims. “If the BJP openly opposes Muslims, Congress opposes silently. The Congress ruled the country for almost 55 years but they did nothing for the welfare of Muslims. The Congress did not consider Muslims more than their vote bank,” he alleged.
