Amid public outcry over suspension of 2010 batch IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal for taking on the sand mafia in Gautam Budh Nagar, her batchmate and Nalagarh Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Yunus Khan, was attacked by the sand mafia in the wee hours of Thursday in Solan district.
Acting on a tip-off, Yunus Khan reached the illegal mining site around 4.15 am to nab illegal miners and seize their vehicles. Khan signaled some tractor-trailers loaded with sand to stop. But one of the tractor drivers speeded up and rammed his vehicle into Khan’s. The driver has been arrested booked for murder bid.
