Delhi Govt adds 1,000 beds to tackle viral fever

As Delhi is jolted with the deadly sting of chikungunya and dengue, the Kejriwal Government on Tuesday announced an additional 1,000 beds for fever patients and a helpline number, 011-22307145, to provide information to people.

While appealing to people not to create panic, Health Minister Satyendar Jain said 1,000 more beds have been provided in hospitals. The Delhi Government has created a dedicated helpline number 011-22307145, “DHS Control Room” for the purpose of guidance on dengue and chikungunya cases.

Claiming to have measures ready at all Delhi Government’s hospitals, Jain said that health institutions are fully prepared to deal with the crisis. “1,000 additional beds are ready to cater to fever patients. Our fever clinics in 262 dispensaries, 106 Mohalla clinics and 26 Delhi Government hospitals are functioning round-the-clock. Treatment, lab diagnosis of dengue and chikungunya are available free of cost at all hospitals,” said the Health Minister.

As patients from outside Delhi are also coming for treatment, the Government is ready to cope with the rush. The Government has given permission to private hospitals/nursing homes to increase the number of beds.

There are already 1,000 beds for fever patients in three major hospitals (Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital, Janakpuri Super Speciality Hospital, Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital) which have been designated as Nodal Hospitals for fever in Delhi.
