Delhi BJP chief's supporters vent ire, seek ticket for Upadhyay

A day after India’s first IPS officer, Kiran Bedi, was anointed BJP’s CM candidate, supporters of Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay protested against the party for not naming him as the CM nominee and not giving him a ticket to fight election. Several other disgruntled leaders raised voice against ticket distribution. Four-time MlA from Rohini, Jai Bhagwan Aggarwal, even threatened to join the AAP. Dheer Singh Bidhuri, a ticket aspirant from Okhla, resigned from the party after being denied ticket.

Angry supporters of Upadhyay shouted slogans and staged a sit-in protest. Upadhyay, on his part, abortively tried to pacify them. The protesters demanded for him, a ticket from Mehrauli, considered a stronghold of the BJP. The BJP leader, who had earlier indicated his willingness to fight the polls, said on Tuesday that he voluntarily opted out to focus on campaigning in the entire city.
