India’s total death count breached 3.5 lakh mark on Monday even as the fresh cases of Covid-19 infections and mortality remained on downward course.
On Monday, India recorded 84,614 new cases and 1,957 deaths, which took the country total of cases to 2,89,94,268 and fatality to 3,51,186.
India is at the third spot in the world in terms of Covid-19 deaths. The US has so far lost 6.12 lakh of it is citizens to the pandemic, while Brazil has 4.73 lakh deaths so far.
While national Capital Delhi recorded just 231 cases and 28 death, lowest in three months, neighbouring Uttar Pradesh saw cases coming below 1,000 mark for the first time in weeks.
Maharashtra also witnessed a marked drop in the Covid-19 infections and fatalities on Monday, as the State logged 10,219 fresh cases and 340 deaths.
A day after the state recorded 12,557 infections and 618 deaths, the infections dropped by 2,338, while the deaths came down by 278.
