Post-Diwali, nationally, air pollution level in lucknow was “severe” with hazardous level at 834, while Mumbai battled with “very poor” category of air quality, with 2.5 Suspended Particulate Matter(SPM) reaching up to the hazardous level of 494.

A providential drizzle in Kolkata, however, kept the PM level at 378, which as per standards of Central Pollution Control Board is said to be ‘unhealthy’. In Bangalore, the Air Quality Index stood at ‘Moderate’ level with PM 2.5 going up to three times more than the CPCB’s prescribed safe limit of 100 micrograms/Cubic Metre of SPM.

Patna recorded nearly seven times the normal amount of suspended particulate matter (SPM) in the air on Diwali while the ambient noise level was also as high as 685.97, which is more than six times the acceptable rate.
