Cong seeks JPC, asserts Rahul’s charge vindicated

The Congress on Saturday demanded a joint parliamentary committee (JPC) probe into the Rafale deal, stating that France has already initiated a judicial probe into the matter last month.

The Congress termed the development a vindication of the charges levelled by its leader Rahul Gandhi.

“Corruption in the Rafale deal has come out clearly now. The stand of the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi has been vindicated today after the French Government ordered a probe,” Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala told a Press conference here.

Surjewala said “scandalous expose” of the “Rafale scam” involving massive corruption, treason, loss to public exchequer has finally been uncovered and laid bare.

“French website ‘Mediapart’ has made public all the evidence in the Reliance-Dassault deal. The Modi Government and ‘sweetheart’ deal (Rafale Deal) is clear now. Will Prime Minister Narendra Modi allow Joint Parliamentary Committee investigation now,” he said.

Surjewala said since the matter deals with national security and identity, a fair and independent JPC probe is the only way out and not the Supreme Court.

The Opposition party is also set to rake up the issue in the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament.
