Cong at loss as party MP for CBI probe into Vadra

The Congress faced a major embarrassment on Monday as not only the Opposition BJP but its own party MP Rao Inderjit Singh demanded a thorough probe into the land dealings of party president Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra.

“The Haryana Government is not transparent. A lot of shady deals have taken place and if Robert Vadra is guilty, then punish him. There has to be a thorough probe. The integrity of the Chief Minister (Bhupinder Singh Hooda) is in doubt,” said the Congress MP from Gurgaon.

He said that a detailed inquiry must be held to substantiate or refute charges against Vadra. He said the Hooda Government was involved in many such deals and there was laxity in probe. He said that both the Haryana Government and the Centre should be pro-active in probing these deals.

If this was not enough for the Congress, the BJP raked up the matter in the Rajya Sabha demanding an enquiry. BJP members first raised slogans when the House met at 11am demanding that in the light of Khemka’s report the matter should be probed. However, since the left parties wanted a debate on the Solar Scam in Kerala, TDP members protested division of Andhra Pradesh and most members demanded a discussion on Kishtwar violence, nothing could be heard in the din and the House was adjourned.

later, BJP leader Maya Singh tried to make a statement on the issue during Zero Hour, but Deputy Chairman PJ Kurien didn’t allow her. Following which BJP members started shouting slogans, demanding a probe into the issue which led to another adjournment.

Congress spokesperson Renuka Chowdhury, however, tried to dismiss the entire controversy saying that it was an issue concerning the State Government.

“This is a State Government issue. They have already given you the clarification. I am sure the State Government is addressing this issue, till then let us keep little patience,” she said.

Asked whether the party would like to come clean about Singh’s allegation against the Hooda Government, Chowdhury countered, “There is nothing dirty on it for us to come clean.”
