The Union Home Ministry has initiated process to re-impose ban on insurgent outfit NSCN(K), which was involved in the ambush of Army jawans in Manipur recently. After the approval from Home Minister Rajnath Singh, NSCN(K) will be declared a banned group and its name will be put in the list of organisations which are declared as banned under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. The NSCN(K) was a banned organisation till 2001 but the order was withdrawn after the group entered into a ceasefire agreement with the Government. Khaplang, a Naga from Myanmar, is based in the neighbouring country and most camps of the group are believed to be located there.
