With New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) all set to implement ill-advised car free scheme from end of August, traders and regular visitors have raised serious objection to the controversial plan. “Connaught Place is a business hub and houses numerous eateries and restaurants and it will lose its sheen once Carbandi is enforced,” said a harried trader.
While New Delhi Traders Association (NDTA) is bracing for a bigger fight to stall the draconian scheme, regular visitors and patrons are furious over the very idea. Many of them when approached by The Pioneer for their comments said that the inner and middle circles of Connaught Place will look like ghost towns once the private vehicles will be banned by the council.
“By doing so, the NDMC is also endangering the safety and security of women visitors who frequent this part of the national Capital, said a visibly agitated Arpita.
