Centre for Policy Research FCRA registration cancelled
New Delhi: The government has cancelled the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) registration of prominent public think-tank Centre for Policy Research for alleged violation of laws, officials said on Wednesday. The move came nearly a year after the MHA had suspended the NGO’s registration under the FCRA. The think-tank was under scrutiny after surveys carried out by the Income Tax department. The FCRA licence was suspended in February 2023 for 180 days.
SC to hear Maharashtra Speaker order on MLAs
New Delhi: Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud on Wednesday hinted that the appeal filed by the Shiv Sena Uddhav Thackeray faction challenging the Maharashtra Assembly Speaker’s decision to reject disqualification petitions against Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and endorsing the MLAs as the authentic Shiv Sena, might be scheduled for a hearing before a Bench on January 22.
