Call off talks with Pakistan: Rajnath

Published on:

BJP president Rajnath Singh on Sunday demanded the Prime Minister call off the proposed meeting with his Pakistani counterpart in New York in September.

In the wake of fresh incidents of firing by Pakistan army along the line of Control, Singh called for snapping of diplomatic relations. Slamming the Government for its inaction, the BJP chief said India’s pride and honour was at stake in the international community. “As a mark of protest, the Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan should immediately be called back,” Singh said at a rally in Ramlila Maidan. He wondered why Manmohan Singh was adamant on holding talks with Pakistan, which had, over 66 years, only betrayed efforts of India to improve relations.
