The Bangladesh Gover-nment has started fresh operations against the Indian militants taking shelter in the neighbouring country. The development took place after the Border Security Force (BSF) handed over to Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) a list of 39 hideouts of Indian insurgent outfits located in bordering areas in that country. The exchange of list took place during the four-day coordination conference of the BSF and BGB, which ended in Shillong on Thursday.

“We have received a positive response to our demands from the neighbouring country and the Bangladesh authorities have already started operations against the Indian insurgents. The BGB delegation said that a number of operations have already been carried out against the Indian insurgents in Bangladesh,” said sources.

“The BGB delegation further informed that the many of the Indian insurgents had already left the country due to the operations carried out by the security forces,” sources said. The BSF sources informed that the list of the hideouts of Indian insurgents includes those of the anti-talk faction of the UlFA, the NDFB, Manipur-based Peoples’ liberation Army (PlA), anti-talk faction of the Hynniewtrep National liberation Council (HNlC) of Meghalaya, the Garo National liberation Army (GNlA) and other rebel groups active in the north-eastern States with demands ranging from secession to greater autonomy and the right to self-determination.

Sources said Inspector General of the BSF, Meghalaya Frontier, Sudesh Kumar also took up with the head of the BGB delegation Md latiful Haider the issue of violation of International Border by Bangladeshi nationals for committing crimes in Indian territory.  The BSF sources added that they have also taken up the issue of pumping of fake Indian currency notes (FICN) from Bangladesh to India. In 2011 also the BSF had handed over a list of 41 camps of Indian insurgents taking shelter in the neighbouring country. The Bangladesh had taken action against the militants then.
