NDFB hawks executed the schoolgirl to avenge encounter of five militants in Chirang district
A grisly video of an execution carried out by the National Democratic Front of Bodoland militants, who shot dead a Class X student in Chirang district in Assam’s Bodoland Territorial Areas Districts, has sent shock waves across the country.
It is not clear if the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) militants themselves released the video or was it done by others present during the killing.
The video, which has been dubbed as an execution by the NDFB, shows the schoolgirl lying in a pool of blood on the ground.
The ultras said the teenager was an informer working for the security forces and warned that they would mete out similar punishment to other informers of the police and security forces.
The incident took place at Dwimuguri Village under Runikhata Police Station in Chirang district on Wednesday evening. Police said the militants had killed the girl to avenge the encounter of five militants in the wee hours of Wednesday in the district.
“The schoolgirl was dragged out of her house by five armed men of the NDFB’s anti-talk faction and shot in front of the villagers and media persons, who were called by the militants,” police said.
“After the killing, one of the five armed militants warned everyone against spying for the police and security forces,” said Inspector-General of Police (BTAD) Bishnoi.
He said that a joint team of police, CoBRA force of the CRPF and the Army had killed five hardcore militants of the outfit including one military secretary and section commanders around 4.30 am on Wednesday.
Police had also recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition including an AK-47 series rifle, two 9mm pistols, two 7.65 pistols, 10 magazines (two AK-47, four 9mm pistols, four 7.65 pistols), five grenades, 226 live rounds of ammunition (163 of AK-47, 14 of 9mm pistols, 24 of 7.65 pistols and 25 of 303 rifles), 10 empty cartridges and `5.5 lakh from the slain militants.
