Ahead of the ninth anniversary of the UPA, the top BJP leadership met in the national Capital on Tuesday to take stock of the political situation in the country and fine-tune its strategy to launch a full throttle attack on the Congress-led coalition.

While the UPA has planned to release its performance report cards on Wednesday, the BJP has decided to come out with a counter report card to highlight the ruling dispensation’s failures. leaders of Opposition Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley will address a Press conference in this regard. The decision was taken at the BJP's Parliamentary Board meeting.

The Opposition party's counter report card will draw a comparison between the performance of the Manmohan Singh-led UPA and Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA Governments in agriculture, employment, price rise, health, infrastructure, food security and aviation sectors.

“One cannot call these nine years of UPA rule as one of governance. We can only call it misrule. The people of the country are fed up and want to throw out this Government at the earliest,” said BJP general secretary Ananth Kumar.

Having already started preparations for the next general elections, due in 2014, the principal Opposition exuded confidence about throwing the UPA out of power and said it was ready for the poll even if it was held ahead of the schedule.

In the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, BJP's parliamentary board members decided to reach out to the people and highlight UPA's all round failure. Modi attended the Parliamentary Board meet for the first time after his return to the panel last month. He suggested the party to effectively use social media to reach out to the people, especially the younger generation.

Modi also advised the party to discuss all issues in great detail within the organisation and then take them to people using different platforms. The party has already announced a nationwide Jail Bharo programme, including top leaders, from May 27 to June 2.

“The BJP meet discussed the political, economic and security situation of the country. At the Goa conclave next month, we will discuss threadbare all these subjects and formulate a strategy to throw UPA out of power,” Kumar said.

BJP's national office-bearers are meeting in Goa on June 7, which will be followed by a two-day-long brainstorming session of the National Executive on June 8 and 9. At its Goa conclave, the party will also discuss the preparedness for the Assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi and Jharkhand to be held later this year.

The visit of Chinese Premier li Keqiang was also discussed by the BJP Parliamentary Board. The main Opposition had expressed concern over Chinese incursions in the ladakh region and asked the government to take appropriate measures.
