A local BJP leader was shot dead, along with his security guard, in Tigri village of Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh when he was travelling in his SUV on Thursday, police said.
A third person — Rahispal — travelling with the BJP’s Shiv Kumar Yadav, a resident of Bahlolpur village of
Greater Noida — sustained bullet injuries and was
rushed to hospital in Delhi where doctors said his condition is stable. The bike-borne assailants fled the spot.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Suniti Singh said the initial investigation suggested that the motive behind the murder was personal and it was pre-planned as hired criminals were used.
“More can be revealed only after the investigation is complete. We are conducting
raids to nab the criminals,” Singh said.
