BJP knew it beforehand, alleges CM

Demanding immediate rollback of demonetisation of Rs500 and Rs1,000 currency notes, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday alleged that some members of the BJP and its “friends” were informed about the move before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public announcement and dubbed it a “huge scam”.

He termed the Centre’s decision as “surgical strike” on common man’s “small savings” and not on “black marketeers”. “Huge amount of cash in Rs1,000 notes was deposited in the bank accounts of certain BJP leaders in recent months. He also claimed that some of them had minimal activity in their accounts but the deposit growth soared instantly when crores were deposited in their bank accounts,” said Kejriwal.

Kejriwal alleged that Sanjeev Kamboj, who heads BJP’s Punjab legal cell, was seen with new notes of Rs2,000 on social media days before the Prime Minister’s announcement of withdrawing high value currency and how that happened. “From July to September, there had been a sudden jump in deposits of money in banks which clearly indicates that the BJP had told all its friends much before the announcement of demonetisation by the Prime Minister. It is a huge scam,” he said in a Press conference.
