Accusing the BJP of copying ideas from the AAP, Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday claimed that the BJP has failed to implement the same properly. “The entire idea of launching an application for women security and using WhatsApp to curb corruption was copied from us. But they couldn’t implement it properly. If a survey is carried out, one will know that the application and the WhatsApp number have been of no use at all. This is because the intention of the party is not good,” said Kejriwal, who released facts and figures on the increasing crime against women in the city. He said, “We have data for 2013 and 2014 about number of rapes and eve-teasing incidents in the city...
In 2013, there were 1,500 rapes, and in 2014, seven months of which was under the BJP rule, there were 2,069 rapes. Similarly for eve-teasing, there were 3,345 recorded incidents in 2013, and 4,179 in 2014. There was a 30 per cent increase in crime against women.
This goes to show that women security is nothing but a term for the BJP. For AAP, it is a mission. The Delhi Police always has an excuse that more cases are being reported, but I don’t buy that. I will implement strong system to keep women security in check.”
The former Chief Minister also criticised the BJP for having people like Nihalchand in their Cabinet. “We all know that Nihalchand is a rape accused. Then what is so important in keeping him in the Cabinet. Why is the party not removing him from the Cabinet,” asked Kejriwal. “When I went around and met people, one thing that every woman wanted was streetlights with CCTV cameras. We immediately took up the issue and prepared a blueprint for it,” he said.
Meanwhile, reacting to the second advertisement released by the BJP as a follow-up to their last caricature, Kejriwal said, “All parties are playing politics in their own way but the BJP is doing ‘gaali-galouch’ (abusive) politics. I talk about free WiFi and they call me a Naxalite.
I give a blueprint on building more colleges and they say that I should be sent off to a jungle. I say that I will install CCTV cameras in my constituency and Nupur Sharma from the BJP calls me a bandar (monkey). The BJP only believes in using such language as they aren’t capable of even releasing a proper manifesto.”
