NaMo to address 185 rallies, Rajnath 150
With less than three weeks to go for the first phase of the general elections, the BJP on Monday announced a massive carpet bombing of 185 ‘Bharat Vijay’ rallies across 295 lok Sabha constituencies by its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi to accomplish “Mission 272 plus.” BJP president Rajnath Singh will also address around 150 rallies.
“This marathon initiative which begins on March 26 will be spread over the subsequent seven weeks,” BJP vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said here on Monday. The concept of Bharat Vijay rallies is one-of-its-kind and aims to maximise and strategise Narendra Modi’s outreach to the voters on the eve of polls, said Naqvi. However, no details were given about the campaign schedules of other senior party leaders except that of Rajnath Singh, who will address over 150 rallies.
Talking to The Pioneer, the BJP leader said since time is short the party would “club two constituencies” while organising rallies for its prime ministerial candidate.
BJP general secretary Amit Shah who was present during the announcement of ‘Bharat Vijay’ rallies said there was no confusion between the slogans of “Modi sarkar” and “BJP sarkar.” To another question about the campaign strategy for Modi in Varanasi, Shah said Modi’s identity was in the entire country and not limited to Varanasi.
Naqvi said ‘Bharat Vijay’ rallies shall not be a one-off canvassing exercise but shall be a sustained drive to spread the party’s message and vision even after the culmination of the rallies.
This will be done by distribution of specially-designed pamphlets and CDs containing the synopsis of Modi’s speech. These procedures would ensure that each ‘Bharat Vijay’ rally has a well-represented audience via “personalised invitation letters” and a local electorate that “is adequately informed about the UPA Government’s misdeeds.”
Away from the traditional rallies, ‘Bharat Vijay’ rallies would focus on brand Modi with a “targeted dissemination” of Modi’s “vision and message” before and after the rally and collection of suggestions from the masses at large via ‘NaMo Sujhav Paatras’ and on the ground fund raising mechanism for the ‘Modi for PM Fund’ in place. These are before and after activities about which party workers are already being briefed.
BJP workers and volunteers will receive specialized kits along with a customized guideline sheet which will enable them to follow a series of predefined procedures - both before and after - for each Bharat Vijay rally.
“The concept of Bharat Vijay rallies is one-of-its-kind and aims to maximize and strategize Narendra Modi’s outreach on the eve of polls. Apart from its sheer scale and size, the conceptualization and execution of these rallies marks a paradigm shift in organizing mammoth electoral public meetings,” said Naqvi.
Naqvi said while Bharat Vijay Rallies will be conducted across India a special emphasis will be made - through standard banners, logo and practices - so that the objective, messaging and theme of the rallies remain constant.
“Using a combination of social media and other communication mediums, such as television and mobile phones, voters in the relevant constituencies shall be intimated sufficiently in advance about a Bharat Vijay rally,” the BJP said adding prior to every rally residents of the constituency would be sensitised about Modi’s vision and the performance of their respective State Governments through “easy-to-read brochures and NaMo Samadhan cards.”
The objective of the ‘Namo Sujhav Paatra’ is to secure as many suggestions from the masses as possible. These suggestions can be pertaining to either the ongoing elections or post-elections for the next Government. Every individual who makes a suggestion shall receive an acknowledgement message. At regular intervals these suggestions from each constituency will be converted into a report format and shared with the party leadership. The reports will be available in the public domain via various mediums such as the party website.
The local leaders would be provided with a one page rally speech summary within 24 hours of the conclusion of the rally and a short synopsis of the rally and key highlights of Modi’s speech shall be prepared which would then be distributed throughout the constituency.
