Bihar MLC elections: BJP wins 7, JD(U) 5, RJD 6 seats

Published on:

The ruling NDA in Bihar came on the top in the Bihar Legislative Council polls held for 24 seats. Of the 24 MLC seats, the NDA won 13 (BJP 7, JD(U) 5 and RLJP 1) while the RJD manage 6 seats.

The Congress that contested the polls solo won one seat while one independent backed by it secured victory. NDA’s constituent RLJP led by Pashupati Paras won one seat while four independents managed to secure a victory.

The real surprise was, however, sprung by rebels contesting  as Independents who won four of the local bodies’ constituencies.

Terms of the two dozen seats had expired last year though elections were deferred because of a delay in Panchayat polls which could not be held in time on account of the Covid-19 pandemic.
