A 24-year-old woman, who claimed that she was abducted from near Noida Golf Course metro station on Friday night and gangraped in a moving car and then dumped near the Akshardham temple in Delhi around 2 am on Saturday, later in the day, did a volte-face saying she had lodged a false complaint out of anger, police said.
Noida Police PRO Manish Saxena in a statement claimed that the woman gave it in writing that she had lodged a false case. Saxena said the woman also gave a letter to police stating she had lodged a “false gangrape case against two persons out of anger” and that she did not want any action in the case.
Initial investigations indicate the case to be false, Saxena said, but added that police are probing the matter in detail to bring out truth as the woman may have reversed her version out of fear.
Earlier, the victim, a BPO employee and a resident of Noida Sector 36, had said two men approached her in a Mahindra Scorpio and asked her about the route to Sector 18 and as she was explaining the route the accused dragged her inside the SUV and drove away. They took turns in raping her and after committing the crime they fled from the spot, she had said.
After the victim informed the Delhi Police about the incident she was brought to Noida and an FIR was lodged at Sector 39 police station with police swinging into action.
Eyebrows were raised after she didn’t agree for medical examination. The investigating officer sent her for medical examination but she went home without the medical check up, police claimed. She was again brought to hospital for medical examination.
She again refused medical examination and gave it to doctors in writing that she did not want herself examined, police said.
“She also refused to hand-over her mobile phone for investigation, citing her privacy,” SHO of Sector 39 police station Avnish Dixit said.
