Amma's fake beta to spend real time in jail

In what could be a direct warning to petitioners approaching the courts with fake claims, the Madras High Court on Monday ordered the Chennai Police to arrest and initiate criminal proceedings against a youth who had requested the court that he be declared as the biological son of late Chief Minister and AIADMK chief J Jayalalithaa. With Monday’s directive to Chennai Police by Justice R Mahadevan, the petitioner J Krishnamoorthy has become the accused and the onus is on him to prove his innocence!

On March 17, Krishnamoorthy had told the court that he was born to the late Chief Minister and Telugu actor Shobhan Babu on February 15, 1985 in Bengaluru. Justice Mahadevan had warned him on that day itself that he could straightaway send him to jail for approaching the court with such fake claims. The judge then ordered the petitioner to present himself before the city police commissioner and furnish whatever documents he had to substantiate his claims.

Krishnamoorthy had claimed in his petition that he was frequently in touch with Jayalalithaa and she had assured him that she would introduce him to the general public as her son. He said that his parents got separated and he was given up for adoption to an aged couple in Erode district. He also claimed that it was AIADMK founder and the then Chief Minister MG Ramachandran who had signed as a witness in the adoption deed.

The Chennai Police (Crime Branch) informed the court last Friday that all documents submitted by Krishnamoorthy were fabricated and forged which made the judge to order the police to “secure the petitioner and take action in accordance with law.” The court also censured Traffic Ramaswamy, a professional complainant-cum-activist for accompanying and sponsoring characters like Krishnamoorthy to the court.

The petitioner seems to have forgotten the fact that Jayalalithaa was a member of Rajya Sabha from 1984 to 1990 and was always in public view during the period he claims he was born.
