Biden vows to avenge deaths; flights out of Af resume

US forces helping to evacuate Afghan nationals and American citizens desperate to flee Afghanistan were on alert for more attacks on Friday after the toll in Thursday’s ISIS fidayeen attack went up to 169 including 13 US soldiers outside the gates of Kabul airport. In the wake of the attacks, General Frank McKenzie, the US Central Command chief overseeing the evacuation, warned that more strikes were possible, and American commanders were working with the Taliban to prevent them. Sweden’s Foreign Minister also said there was a threat, but offered no details.

An enraged US President Joe Biden vowed to complete the evacuation of American citizens and others from Afghanistan despite the deadly suicide bomb attack at the Kabul airport. He promised to avenge the deaths of 13 US Service members killed in the attack, declaring to the extremists responsible: “We will hunt you down and make you pay.”
