Ailing BJP veteran lK Advani will hold a crucial meeting with RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday, which could possibly set a stage for new churnings within the party. Bhagwat will also meet leader of Opposition in lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj on Thursday.
Advani is upset with the conduct of couple of leaders having RSS link. Advani holds them responsible for the BJP’s organisational problems. He has already conveyed this to Bhagwat over telephone last week.
Bhagwat’s meeting with top BJP leaders will come in the backdrop of Advani’s resignation from top party posts last week and intervention by the Sarsanghchalak, who successfully managed to convince Advani to change his mind.
“Advani was scheduled to meet Bhagwat on Wednesday but the meeting was postponed for Thursday as the BJP leader was not well. Advani even did not attend a programme organised by Uma Bharti, which he had to address in the afternoon,” sources close to the BJP leader said.
Sources claimed that on Wednesday Bhagwat had a discussion with former BJP chief Nitin Gadkari on organisational matters of the party. Incidentally, Gadkari’s played a crucial in defusing the crisis after Advani’s resignation. It was Gadakri who made the RSS top brass to intervene and prevail upon the BJP veteran, who now shares a warm relationship with the former party chief.
Advani also had a meeting with Gujarat CM Narendra Modi on Tuesday. Modi shared with Advani his idea of campaign and is understood to have stressed upon the fact that India cannot have a US-type ‘Presidential’ of election, which centres around a personality, and only a team could ensure victory.
