After drawing flak for missing the wreath laying ceremony of five CRPF jawans killed in a fidayeen attack in Srinagar, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah rushed to Srinagar International Airport to bid adieu to the coffins before they were flown out of the Valley.
No official from the State Government attended the formal wreath laying ceremony even as Chief Minister and his deputy Tara Chand were in town. The Delhi-based electronic media highlighted the Chief Minister’s absence.
Sources said the Chief Minister immediately rushed to Srinagar Airport to pay homage to the slain personnel and the gesture offset the impact of the controversy.
