AAP's Dhir joins BJP

In a major setback to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), former Delhi Assembly Speaker Maninder Singh Dhir, who had a public spat with AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal over praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Friday joined the BJP.

Dhir, who was elected from Jangpura constituency in the last Assembly elections, said the country was “progressing” under the leadership of Modi. Besides, Rohit Rajpal, a former captain of Indian Davis Cup team, also joined the saffron party.

Dhir said the BJP is not new to him and before joining the AAP, he was in the saffron party and for him it was now like returning home. Attacking Kejriwal for resigning as Delhi CM, he said, “they  (Kejriwal) got one chance to form a Government but got emotional and resigned which they should not have done.”

Rajpal said, “I am inspired by the leadership of PM Modi.”
