Aam Aadmi Party MlA Vinod Kumar Binny was on Sunday expelled from the party for allegedly maligning its image in public. The disciplinary committee formed to look into the charges of ‘indiscipline and misconduct’ against Binny recommended his termination from the primary membership of the party. The development comes hours before Binny was to begin with his dharna to expose the ‘dubious activities’ of the AAP on Monday.

“The disciplinary committee has decided to expel Vinod Kumar Binny and terminate his primary membership from the party, for publicly making false statements  against the party and its leadership, thereby bringing disrepute to the party. A letter to the same end has been issued to Vinod Kumar Binny,” said a statement issued by the AAP on Sunday night.

Binny, the MlA from laxmi Nagar, was vocal against the policies of the AAP and had accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of deviating from the core issues on which the party had gone to the polls. He had also dubbed Kejriwal as a ‘dictator’ and said the decisions in the party were taken by a handful of leaders in consultation with the Congress. After Binny’s public outburst, the AAP had formed a disciplinary committee on January 19 to look into the matter. The committee headed by Pankaj Gupta also included Yogendra Yadav, Gopal Rai, Ashish Talwar and Illyas Azmi as members.
