Suspecting conspiracy behind the sudden increase in incidents of fire at Bhalaswa landfill site, Rajghat and JJ clusters, and the abortive bid for auto strike in the national Capital, the Arvind Kejriwal Government on Thursday formed a four-member committee to probe if these happenings are attempts to sabotage the odd-even scheme.
Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai said, “These incidents indicate some conspiracy is being hatched to sabotage the odd-even scheme in a planned way…The Delhi Government has formed a four-member fact-finding committee headed by Special Secretary (Environment) Kulanand Joshi. The committee has been told to file report within three days. The other members of the committee include Special Commissioner (transport) KK Dahiya, Deputy Secretary (urban development) Omkar Marathe and ADMs of respective areas where fire took place.”
Claiming that odd-even has reduced road traffic, the Minister said there is an increase in the number of vehicles bearing registration number of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. Rai countered media reports about heavy traffic jams at several places. He said jam at Dhaula Kuan occurred due to DJB pipeline burst, while traffic congestion at Nehru Place flyover was due to construction work.
According to Rai, 32 points in Delhi — including Peera Garhi, Singhu Border, ISBT Kashmeri Gate, Ajmeri Gate, Bhairon Marg, ITO junction, Nehru Place flyover, Khajuri Chowk, loni roundabout, Seelampuri, Anand Vihar, Dhaula Kuan, and Badarpur-Mahipalpur Road — have been identified by the traffic police, civil defence and transport department’s enforcement teams where traffic jam took place.
