5 lives lost in one night in Greater Noida
Published on:

In a quiet village on the fringes of Greater Noida, five members of one family were found dead on Saturday morning, all having died in the same night, apparently from food poisoning. Mahesh (37), his wife Lalita (35) and their three children (Mishti 7, Laddu 11 and Sakshat 3) were all found dead in their home at Nagla Shri Padam village, Rabupura.

Neighbours and family members who went to the house described an utterly still, devastating scene. The whole family was gone before the day had really got underway.

According to police and local sources, the family had noodles for dinner the night before. By the next morning, all five were dead. Sakshat was three, Mishti was seven, and Laddu was eleven. The parents were in their mid-30s.

What appeared to be a fairly normal family meal is now the subject of an investigation, with forensic personnel and officials from the Food Safety Department all on the scene. Samples have been taken, and the postmortems are underway. The cause of death is still unknown, and the lab results and the medical reports will determine the next stage of the investigation.

The loss has deeply affected the village. In just a few hours, an entire generation from one family was gone. Relatives and neighbours remembered the family as ordinary the night before.

Mahesh’s mother told police they all ate the meal together.  Now, investigators are testing the meal to see whether something toxic was in the food, whether contamination happened elsewhere, or whether there is another reason for the deaths.

Until the results come in, the village is left with five lives lost and the memory of a dinner that ended in tragedy.

BJP MLA Dhirendra Singh from Jewar visited the village and said he had informed the Chief Minister’s office. He called the deaths deeply painful, especially since three children were among those lost. He said investigators are focusing on whether a toxic substance was in the food or if another cause was involved. He added that the exact reason will become clear only after the post-mortem reports.

Noida Police, local officials, and food department teams are working on the case, and he stressed that they should check every detail fairly so the family can understand the loss as soon as possible.

Opposition leaders also responded to the tragedy. Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati called the deaths extremely heartbreaking and said the government must make sure the investigation is thorough and that anyone responsible is punished.

The Samajwadi Party linked the incident to broader concerns about food safety in the state, claiming that unsafe, contaminated food is being sold and that those involved are linked to the ruling party. The party questioned whether the current government would lose more lives. However, these are political statements, and investigators have not found any link between the deaths in Nagla Shri Padam and any specific network or product beyond the meal the family ate.

The official cause will be known only once the post-mortem and lab results are in. In the meantime, the village is left with the memory of a perfectly ordinary evening which became the final evening for five people. The children (Mishti, seven; Laddu, eleven; Sakshat, three) will never go to school or play again. Their parents will never wake up in the house where they cooked the meal. The neighbours who found them now have to explain what has happened. The investigation is still underway, and investigators are collecting evidence.
