At least 40 people died and over 100 others were injured in torrential rain in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. Normal life was affected severely as several trees fell in the storm leading to massive roadblocks in eastern part of the State. Overhead electric wires also fell on the tracks, disrupting rail services in many areas. The fresh storm has also wreaked havoc for farmers who are still reeling under the impact of unseasonal rain. A report from Gorakhpur confirmed that due to hailstorm, the quake relief camp set up on the premises of the Gorakhpur University was destroyed.
