Thirty-six cows were found dead on Friday at a gaushala run by Archarya Sushil Gosadan Trust at Ghumanhera village, Chhawla, in Dwarka. Police — which rushed to the spot after receiving a PCR call about 12.10 pm — said initial investigation suggested that the bovines died of some disease.
The Delhi Government has ordered an enquiry into the deaths.
The Delhi Police has written to Special Development Commissioner Kuldeep Singh Gangar for the constitution of a team of veterinary doctors to conduct postmortem to establish the cause of deaths.
“Once the report is submitted, further legal action will be taken,” said police.
Earlier, a team of veterinary doctors reached the gaushala and conducted a preliminary enquiry into the cause of deaths and suspected the death may have been caused by some disease. This gaushala was allotted in 1995 and is built on 20 acre. About 20 labourers are working in the gaushala, the Delhi Police said.
