Two brothers, Rajesh and Neeraj, were arrested from Indirapuram area on Sunday for hiring contract killers to murder their 70-year-old father. The victim, Om Prakash, was beaten to death on February 18. Rajesh and Neeraj allegedly hired the contract killers for Rs9 lakh as they suspected Om Prakash of having an extra-marital affair.

During interrogation, the brothers said that they were unhappy with Om Prakash for having an extra-marital affair and an extravagant lifestyle. Their mother too was upset with Prakash’s habits. Rajesh’s brother-in-law Sunil was also arrested in connection with the murder. “Rajesh and Neeraj told police that Om Prakash had an extra-marital affair and used to live a lavish life. He recently sold a plot for Rs80 lakh, but didn’t give them a single penny which angered them,” said a senior police official.

“To kill their father, they hired a contract killer, Devendra, for Rs9 lakh and also involved their brother-in-law, Sunil, in the plan. On February 18, when Om Prakash was going to Mainpuri district after collecting rent, Devendra, along with his two accomplices, brutally attacked him with iron rods and fled from the spot,” he said.

After the death of Om Prakash, Rajesh registered an FIR at Indirapuram Police station to mislead the investigation, the official said. “Police recovered four mobile phones from Neeraj, Rajesh and Sunil’s possession after their arrest. A manhunt has also been launched to nab their three other accomplices,” he added.
