We left because of extremism but now, we will go back as Bharat Bhakts: RSS chief

Hoping  that the Kashmiri Pandits who were displaced from their homes in the Kashmir  Valley in the 1990s will soon return as Hindus and ‘Bharat Bhakts’, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday asserted that this time round “we will live in a way that nobody will dare to displace us.”

Addressing the Kashmiri Hindu community via video conference on the last day of the Navreh celebrations in Jammu, Bhagwat said nobody can force the Kashmiri Pandits to leave, and if anybody tries to do it, then s/he will have to face the consequences.

“We left (Kashmir) because of extremism but when we’ll return now, we will go back as Hindus and ‘Bharat Bhakts’ with an assurance of our security and livelihood. We will live in a way that nobody will dare to displace us,” said the RSS chief. He said the abrogation of Article 370 that accorded a special status to Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) had paved the way for the return of Hindus to Kashmir.

“Earlier, I said that the issue of Kashmiri Pandits will be solved through public awareness and hindrances such as Article 370 must be removed. After 2011, in these 11 years, due to our collective efforts, there is no Article 370,” Bhagwat said.

“We are (Kashmiri Pandits) bearing the brunt of getting displaced from our home in our own country for the last 3-4 decades. It’s imperative that we shouldn’t accept defeat in this situation and face challenges,” he further stressed.

On the recently released movie ‘The Kashmir Files’ that narrates  the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley in 1990 in the wake of rising militancy there, the RSS leader said the film has exposed the tragedy faced by the Pandits.

“The movie ‘The Kashmir Files’ portrays the story of Kashmiri Pandits. Some people are in favour while some are against it. The movie has showcased an unfortunate reality of the drastic tragedy of Kashmiri Pandits which shocked all of us,” he said. The movie has also been appreciated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi who had praised the film-maker for bringing-out facts on the Kashmiri Pandit exodus from the erstwhile State of J&K. Modi had earlier met the director Vivek Agnihotri and the cast of the celluloid film.
